This is James kissing Ulrica in my old kitchen. The kitchen table is the centre of everything in our house and features in a number of my paintings. There is a lot of symbolism in the painting, the small image of Eros, pointing, the heart shaped plates (which were actually on the table) the red wine and crucifix and so on.
I was pleased with the scumbling over the window, creating a hazy softness and also the glazing on the jug and Ulrica's blouse.
